The vicious circle

People often walk around with recurring (physiotherapeutic) complaints, which puts them in a vicious cycle. These 'revolving door patients' are treated for the same complaints for too long and either make no progress or only temporary improvement.

Our vision and working method

Wouter van Geel, Physiotherapist Leiden, Sports physio Leiden, Shoulder injury, Hip injury, Sports injury, Leiden, Expat Physio

This vicious cycle can be broken. Our vision is that people can be treated and helped in the right, personalized way, with a sustainable end result. The shared goal is to come out of it better than before and to perform better. A recurrence of the complaint should no longer occur because patients are taught how to stay fit and avoid injuries.

What is needed for this?

First, it starts with making a good, clear diagnosis. If the diagnosis is non-physiotherapeutic, you discuss the correct referral and provide advice.

Second, a treatment plan is created with a clear exercise schedule and precise instructions in both text and visuals.

Third, the commitment and motivation of the patient is essential to follow the exercise plan. Therefore, reflection and feedback during the treatment—both ways—are crucial to keep the treatment optimal and to adjust it in a timely manner. We dedicate a lot of time and attention to this. Staying in touch throughout the process and we believe providing feedback is an important prerequisite to ensure a successful treatment. We want to keep patients motivated to work on their recovery. We do so through regular check ins to see if there is progress or if the treatment needs to be adjusted.

"The best result of a treatment or training is always achieved together."
